Hair extension application methods are examined as important for you to choose what kind of weighs hair type. Often there are several methods to choose from, and it's up to you to decide which method you prefer.

The three most commonly used hair extensions application methods: I-tip, U-tip, ribbons and lace.

I-Tip: Use a micro-bull, these are applied strand by strand hair extensions with permanent. The hair is through the micro-cyclering, and a tool similar to pliers is used to squeeze the ring shut around the hair, to bond it. To remove, simply reverse this process by squeezing the ring in the opposing direction. Depending on how fast the hair grows, these can last up to six weeks. Another bonus of using this method, is that the hair can be re-used when you need to have them reapplied. I-tip extensions are great for adding volume, and length- and to mix it up, you can even add in different coloured highlights. After the application you can cut and style your hair as you wish.

U-Tip: These are also a strand-by-strand permanent method. Attaching to natural hair on the head using a Keratin glue, they can also last up to 6 weeks depending on hair growth. Because these are bonded to the hair, it is recommended they are removed by a professional as they are taken out using a remover fluid applied to the extension bond. The bond is then squeezed with pliers multiple times until loosened, and gently pulled off.

Tape Weft: Very popular. Application of tape weft extensions is relatively easy and quick to apply. The pre taped weft of hair is inserted into either side of the natural hair. Easy to maintain, they can be washed and styled like your natural hair. These do not have clear bonds and can at times be seen through the hair. If you often wear your hair in up-do's and ponytails, these may be harder for you to wear, and you need to ensure the wefts are covered before styling.

If you are looking for a stylist

Now that you are ready to choose the method that will be best for your needs, it is also a good idea to research for a qualified stylist who will be applying your new hair. There are many unqualified and untrained stylists who claim to know how to apply them, which can often lead to a waste of your money, time and worst case scenario- loss of your hair.

Make sure you go into the salon, have them look at your hair and recommend the best application method after assessing your hair type first. Now you are informed on application methods, and how to find the best stylist available to you. Most of all, enjoy your new look!
